No horses die in the Derby unless blah blah

Such ill-judged flippancy. I'm actually quite shocked that you'd be so crass to post something like that without even bothering to check your facts.

Two horses have died in the Derby this century alone. Coshocton had to be destroyed on the racecourse in 2002. And, quite famously, Hoatio Nelson in 2006 after sustaining "horrific injuries, including fractured cannon and sesamoid bones, a dislocated fetlock joint and open wounds that exposed severe damage to blood vessels, nerves and ligaments". He had been the top-rated 2 year old in Europe the previous year.
