Welcome back!
Most of us would agree with everything you say but, apparently Chelsea stipulated that Ks could not play at Kingsmeadow as a condition of buying the ground off AFCW. They seemingly don't care about the PR angle on this and, to be fair, it's not as though the public or the media really give them or the Wombles a hard time over it.
As Chelsea now use the ground for their Women's team on Sundays, you'd have thought that a ground-share with a non-league team playing on Saturdays would make good sense. Others point out however, that Kingsmeadow has been enlarged so much since we played there, that it's no longer really suitable for us. For instance, the Cambridge Road End is now a huge stand, too large (in our latter days playing there) to justify opening it for our games.
Again, other people suggest that the Kingsmeadow Athletics stadium would be good for us as a new home. Certainly it is in the town (not just in the borough, or in the general area) and there are a number of examples where athletics and football co-exist quite happily.
Hope that helps?
