There's no evidence at all that the Southern League is the reason Walton Casuals closed down. There's been little public transparency about what happened and if it was as simple as struggling with travel expenses they could have just taken a voluntary relegation rather than closing. At the end of the day they did well to reach this level but they had low crowds and apparently no revenue from their Council-run ground so in all likelihood they'd have struggled in the Isthmian too.
The biggest threat to our success and existence is poor home crowds. Right now that's exactly what everyone is expecting in Mitcham, which is why we've cut our budget, lost our manager and have six senior players.
1. A quote from there statement:
All Clubs rely on the support of individuals, company's, volunteers and the local
authority - and especially the amazing fans and sponsors. The generosity and
commitment of all those associated with the Club has made this season's
achievements all the more special.
But the recent, current and foreseeable stresses that will be placed on all those
inputs (time and financial) has made it clear that despite careful stewardship by the
current management the ability to continue operating the Club into next season
appears unsustainable.
2. The budget being cut is probably to with the rising costs of living. Don’t think we’re the only ones cutting the budget, plus given the fact we’re playing in further away from Kingston as well.
3. I’m sure we’ve got players but given we announce a few players but 2 left for Enfield & probably Carshalton Athletic (Not confirmed) , probably don’t want to reveal more to then they go play somewhere else. Plus Lee did say he got a few players he wants to have a look at.
4. Top 10, we’re not getting play offs and not finishing above Horsham, Hornchurch, Enfield, Carshalton Athletic, Folkestone, Lewes , Margate, Bognor & Cray
