agreed.
even if there was the land there would not be the money (even if a miraculous £2m grant from somewhere turned up (which it wouldn't)).

it needs either an existing facility, to jump into, or some kind of developer-led facility on the green belt showing some kind of extraordinary requirement from the local community, which isn't there either.

IMO we can aim for something that might be affordable and be a little (or a lot) beneath what we've been used to for decades, or spend the rest of the 2020's making "perfect" the enemy of "good" and throw pragmatism out of the window.

I cannot see how anything other than the Athletics Stadium can possibly be a go-er. And every month we delay is another month lost in partnership with Cambridge Road Estate regeneration and the new school's development which would be necessary in any joint venture.

we seem to give as much attention to the problems of where a javelin might land or moving a sandpit, to the logistical / financial problems of building a whole new site from scratch on a plot of land we'll never have. it's wild.
