Agreed, especially as a United fan :) #OlesAtTheWheel

I was at Croydon vs Whitstable Town game when the Barca vs PSG drama happened. Sadly the game 5Live had commentary on wasn’t as good entertaining. (a nil nil draw between Stoke and Man City)

Though we’ve only had 3 home mid week games this season.

So let’s ask the manager

There is still the argument made that playing on Wednesday is slightly better for player safety as it gives more time between matches for recovery. The move to Wednesday was very much at Leigh’s request using this rationale.

We had so many mid week games last season while the Champions League was in full swing because of the number of postponed Saturday home matches . It is less of an issue at the moment but I would say that we have had an unusually low number of mid week games this season and there is a good argument for Monday being a slightly better day for attendances ( remember there are now regular televised matches Ona Monday which didn’t used to be the case)

It is possible that Dean will take a different view. I think we will need to accept his decision but it would be well worth asking him about this at Dean’s Meet the Manager meeting on Friday

I don't buy into the player safety element - other clubs do it, and we did it for years.

In terms of player recovery, it in turn just gives us less time later in the week ahead of the Saturday game. If anything, it was and should have meant we would be sharper in our Monday games than opponents who weren't used to the quicker turnaround.

There's players and their availability too. The Wednesday night matches surely plays havoc with the scheduling of training. A Tuesday game means training on a Thursday but a Wednesday game probably means training on a Monday - that's a mix of four different nights. Playing Mondays meant we could always train on Thursdays.

Then there's the whole point about fans and crowds. Wednesdays clash more than ever with the Champions League now with its split fixture weeks. It's a massively popular and exciting competition - the matches over the last couple of nights have shown that - so why would we choose to clash our home games with it. Add to that, people are more likely to have plans as the week goes on, whilst Mondays there's far less to compete with.

To me, it's a no brainer. We played on Mondays for years and it worked well. Dynan had lots of bad ideas - Wednesdays was just another of them.

Yeah - it gave us more time to prep, but also our opponents. Your point about training is key too - it gives us consistency that a part-time player needs to commit fully.
