The 39 Steps

The Royal Oak in New Malden has now re-opened after being taken of by Mosaic Pubs.
No BT now nor Sky and a bit of paint splashed around and a steak for £99.No Fosters or Carling but a Guinness for £5.30.
Supporters club maybe pleased that the 39 steps to the function room are still in place for any meetings that are planned.
Feeling is,with little work done byt the prices going out of all proportion is a side street pub to be avoided.
Still the much loved 39 steps for the disadvantaged.

Blimey, if the steak is that old, it should be going in the bin!

F**k me! Those prices are ridiculous.

Anyone who can afford those prices is either not paying enough tax and/or not giving enough to charity.

Blimey, 5.30 for Guinness that's alright. Don't know about 99 pound for steak, that's even steep by Perth standards.

Waaaat? My local Wetherspoons charges £2.79, tho I usually have a point of Abbott's Ale @ £2.29 or Doom Bar @ £1.99.

I think the 99 is an obvious typo, but that Guinness figure is not that far off what we pay. Between 10 or 11 dollars, obviously I know that is dear for there as I was over for a couple of games this season.

Truly extraordinary. Beer being expensive these days isn't exactly news but that absolutely takes the biscuit - it's a local pub in New Malden charging what you'd expect from a Central London hotel. Obviously other pubs can't compete with Wetherspoons' buying power but come on, this is ridiculous.

And as for a £99 steak, it's presumably to feed more than one person but even so, who are they expecting to buy that? Surely if you're willing to spend that much on a steak then you're going to go to a top steakhouse rather than having it down the pub with a pint of Guinness on a Kingstonian Ted beermat?

I'm waiting for OSK to come back to this thread, but I'm expecting to hear that "as for a £99 steak" is a typo, surely?

I had a very quick look but couldn't find a website for the pub to verify it.

Having taken your point which was very well made, the Supporters Club will be looking to hold all future meetings in accessible venues .
