Well said Rex.

There are, of course some references to Jimmy Coates in Richard Coulthard’s wonderful Ks Archives
http://www.kingstonianhistory.co.uk/
This, for example, includes the programme for the FA Amateur Cup Final against Hendon

I shall never forget the winning goal Jimmy scored against Crook Town in the FAAC semi final. A cross from the left was met with a sizzling volley into the back of the net that sent K's to Wembley.

As fine a player that ever donned the red and white hooped shirt of Kingstonian FC.

My respects and condolences to the Coates family

I never saw Mr Coates play for Ks, just a little bit before my
time. Heard a fair bit about him from my late father and two
eldest brothers, all of who served in the Royal Navy.
My condolences to his family.

I started watching K's in 1965 just a few months after his last game so sadly have no memories of such a club great. My condolences to his family.

Another anecdote that springs to mind, 1956 Jimmy Played for the Great Britain Olympic team in Melbourne.
On his return to K's in December of that year we played a league game at Plough Lane, Boxing Day. What a difference Jimmy made on that day we ran out 4-2 victors . Great memories thanks Jimmy.
