We,the footie fraternity, sold our souls years ago to the highest bidder.
Sorry because its not only football, its many sports, where you cant in cricket even recognise a Counties ground by its name or maybe the team itself.
All sports benefit by these mega companies money so lets not complain, just get on with it.
We are lucky we named our aproach to Kingsmeadow Jack Goodchild Way,today it may have been the Paddy Power Way.

So football has lost it's moral compass, tell me something
new.
As for the suggestion that a club would refuse prize money
on those grounds is never going to happen.
Anyway i always thought we should have been sponsored
by KFC,i do love that secret recipe coating.

Yes, or we could be sponsored by Kelloggs or, more specifically, Kelloggs Special K ('s)

Most bizarre league sponsorship I've come across was the second season Guildford City were briefly back in the Southern League, Calor Gas insisted a sponsors 'message' was read out over the PA before each match. It was same message all season long, the guy reading it out sounded like his mind was elsewhere.

No, this is a particularly stupid decision because of the FA rules on betting in football.

In theory - if rules are applied to the letter - then ANY volunteer for the club (however minor) cannot now bet on ANY football. That may work and make some sense at a professional level, but at this level it’s incredibly stupid. Either clubs will lose volunteers, or the rule won’t be applied.

No, this is a particularly stupid decision because... gambling.

The league signs a community relationship deal with a mental health charity (Mind) and a sponsorship deal with a betting company (BetVictor) - even though the Gambling Commission finds more than 2 million people are addicted to gambling or at risk of developing a problem (400,000 of whom are classified as "problem" gamblers") and addicts are 15 times more likely to die by suicide than the general population. Go figure.

The gambling industry makes profits of c. £14.5 BILLION per year. BetVictor has its headquarters in the tax haven of Gibraltar.

Gambling companies are not allowed to advertise on TV before the "watershed" - so their solution is to sponsor a mulititude of sports, and especially sporting teams that feature on daytime TV.

Me, to Nick Robinson (Chair, Isthmian League): "I am alarmed by the news that the Isthmian Leagues are to be sponsored by BetVictor."

Nick Robinson: "I am sure you will understand that we cannot enter into correspondence with every supporter. Please refer to your Club."

How is this the business of Kingstonian? They have no say in whom the League choose as their sponsor. Presumably, Ks will have to follow instructions from the League on logo placement, advertising, etc.

It is completely inappropriate for a Club like Ks, which is looking to build its profile amongst young people, and which is forging a relationship with Young Carers and Kingston Mind, to help promote online gambling.

Legally can a club decline to accept its share of the league sponsorship money and refuse to carry anything relating to the sponsor? Interesting point.

I personally want to have as little as possible to do with parasitic betting companies .

I would suggest whenever possible. we call the league by it’s real name and ignore the dodgy betting company.
