I'm ready for a trip to Bristol Rovers. One of my good mates is a gashead so to play them at their place would be the ideal fixture for me!

Is the competition still regionalised for the 1st rnd proper?
With this in mind, I reckon our manager will be looking for a
another 'winnable' tie. Hayden made no secret of the fact that
he thought Dartford could be beaten. There are a good few clubs
at our level and one or two below still in the draw.
Personally, if we are away from home and are looking to progress,
I would love to draw Chichester, Maldon & Tiptree, Stevenage, Torquay
or Maidenhead. If at home, I'd take anybody!

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'll stick to my south & western
preferences for now and think about being drawn somewhere north
of MK Dons after 7pm tonight!

I've been thinking about it and wouldn't mind a trip to Accrington.

A warm welcome awaits you all in Newport.

Wales, not Isle of Wight!

I adopted Newport as my Welsh team, even saw them win with my Father in law at the Cobblers place when I lived in Raunds.

I too have a bit of a soft spot for Newport. Back in the late 70s
my brother would often take me to Brentford and the likes of
Newport, Barrow, Workington, Hartlepool would generally be
occupying the bottom spot in the old div 4 and end up seeking
re-election to the league. By the mid 80s, Newport had staged a
bit of a revival and by winning the Welsh cup they ended up reaching
the later stages of the old 'cup winners cup' only losing on away goals
to Carl Zeiss Jena of east Germany. I was at the old Somerton Park ground
for that game and I believe Tony Pulis was in the Newport line up that night!

Haringey Borough v Yeovil Town: match abandoned in the 64th minute shortly after Yeovil had gained a 1-0 lead.

What happens next?

Arrests made in Somerset this morning apparently.
I would expect Yeovil to be kicked out of the competition.
I also expect this to happen again.

I don't need to remind our supporter's of the trouble we
had with a band of their supporter's during and after the
trophy game back in the GC era, when not only were they
allowed to move unhindered into our section looking for
trouble, but attacked the supporters coach after the match
and even attacked their own stewards putting one in hospital.
From what i am reading they will not be thrown out of the
competition as the F A think that would set a precedent that
could be abused, also they did not follow the correct protocol,
the culprits should instead be arrested and banned for life.

Yes, I remember that game all too well and at KM when it
all kicked off in the bar after we'd beaten them in a previous cup
or league tie. They have form which is why I said it will probably
happen again. They are not the only offenders. Racial abuse, verbal
abuse and violence, usually associated with alcohol is still present in
football, at all levels.

While living in Northants I watched a fair bit of footy at Rockingham Road, including the Wimbledon FA Cup on pitch punch up. The ONLY time there was a genuine nasty atmosphere was when Yeovil visited - vile thugs springs to mind, nothing changes it seems.

My brother married and lived in Yeovil for many years.
He supported and followed them in their Southern/ conference
league years. I went to the old Huish ground with him to watch an
FA cup tie vs Hereford one year. It was the worst and most prolonged
fighting I've ever seen between two sets of supporters, in the town before
and after the game and in the ground through the entire game.

Closer to home, I remember all too well a small number of our supporters who were given to racist chanting and "loyalist" songs. I'm pleased those days are gone.

Let's hope Haringey win.
