This is a great addition John. Looking at the Macclesfield website a few blocks of tickets have gone too, all shaping up for a big day.

Guys - I do a lot of travelling to Cheshire from around here ( Trains and cars) - its a tight one leaving Tolworth around 7.45 for a 12.30 KO - just doable if the Toll is used - it will be straight off the coach to the game I reckon.

I do however realise that one of owners is a travel company owner so happy to be told to chill out but...

Time enough

Hi Ian

Out of interest, I just Googled the journey from Tolworth Broadway and at 7.45 it came out at 3hrs 21 mins via the route Mark Anderson is proposing they take. (Travel via A3, M25, M40, M42, M6 )

The travel time has indeed come up as much longer during the week and if at peak travel times ( I suspect that is where BE got his 5 hours from).

This does look to be okay.

Well speaking personally, according to Rail Enquires, I could have taken a train at Surbiton at 8am to get to Macclesfield for 11.38 and get to the ground for about noon. ( catch a later train and I miss kick off). So I would have saved just a few minutes and paid through the nose for this. Personally I find the coach journey more convenient as it takes me straight to the ground ...... and much better value.

Less than that -- I've had some horror journeys up there - admittedly Mostly Runcorn but Macc too. If we take the toll road we have a chance for even a short break. If we don't go toll -itll be straight off coach to seat I reckon. Hope I'm wrong.

You are right to be concerned.

I spent my whole career travelling the length and breadth of this island and car journeys rarely took the time they should have done.

However, I'm sure that the team at Anderson Travel will be the experts here and should know how long to allow.

If we got a 54th application on Friday the 8th I guess that person would be out of luck.

If there is enough demand, sufficiently in advance to organise it, a second coach could most certainly be a possibility .

The Club did have three coaches to Bristol City back in our glory days but we had a larger active fan base then. It was for 230 mile round trip for a 3oclock kick off compared with 394 miles to Moss Rose Stadium and back. However, there were over 2000 people from Kingston on that day with a wider range of practical travel options than to Macclesfield It’s hard to gauge how much demand there will be but let’s hope for a good response.

Thank you for responding John, that's perfectly clear.
Personally, I shall be travelling independently with my
brother and friends and yes, let's hope we do have the
kind of response we had for those Bristol City, Brentford, Southend,
Southport and Northwich Victoria days!
Come on u Ks!

Dear all,
Just to update - there are currently about 14 seats available to buy!

The coaches will be at Kingsmeadow from 6.30am to allow the drivers to get their legal rest period. Then they will be taking people on board OUTSIDE THE CAR PARK now, on the road. Please find Allan Dean and Tim Wells who have the lists for the 2 coaches, and know who is on which coach - and the payment details.
For Tolworth pickup, please find John Bangs and Kingstonian Ted, and I recommend you get there for 7.45 sharp.

I can bring a handful of Pride of South London scarves to Macclesfield if anyone wants to buy one online, to collect from me at the stadium as I'm not coming by coach.

If the Kingsmeadow pickup is outside on the road, does this mean the parking in Kingsmeadow will not be available for those driving to get the coach?

Would seem obvious.
Chelsea Women playing Man.United on Sunday so why would you take up their car park spaces
It used to be a great problem when we were there and the parking without outsiders wanting to park.

My understanding was always that Kingsmeadow is a public car-park, not a football or athletics car-park.

Arrangements for where the coach picks up supporters is different from where people park, non?

I would check that if I were you.
If it was public you may think it may have a ticket machine and would serve as a Christmas car park.Think you will find the Athletics have the bottom two bays.
Does anybody remember if the club has a pub or club licence ?

Something in my long-term memory (hah!) tells me that RBK allowed Ks to build a football stadium at Kingsmeadow so long as the car park remained free to use?
