Macclesfield Updates

As some will probably Macclesfield Town have a potential new buyer
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50338348

This will not, of course, be in time for this weekend but it adds another dimension to the drama. The players strike and loss of the potential of FA prize money may help force the existing owner to sell ( which he has been resisting).

There has been some contact with the club as the volunteers are not on strike. The striking staff don’t want their club to collapse altogether and so have not appear to have asked the volunteers to down tools as well.

Our chief steward John Mccormack is meeting the Macclesfield safety officer early on Sunday morning to discuss safety at the match which is a sign that they are planning to field some sort of team. After all if they are hoping to get a new owner willing to invest in their club they won’t want to be thrown out of next year’s competition.

2nd hand (from my groundhopping Wigan Postie who says he is going and coming in the K's end- so one more on our total) is that Granada TV said Macclesfield were supposed to be making a decision between 5 and 6pm tonight. I'm not clear if this is the club or the players but maybe some people have realised K's fans could do with knowing well in advance.

Weather not so bad in Wigan (any time it isn't raining is not so bad!) and don't think it was as bad in Macclesfield as some other places. Two and a half days without much chance of rain forecast.

As for David Crawt's exploits they pale into insignificance with my 90 minute scheduled journey time which may involve a Northern train so really I should be setting off now.

Bloke on the phone at the club reckons the game is definitely on, and they're fielding a normal team, cos "he's not been told anything different",

See you there :)

I think we're still in the "anything could fucking happen and nobody has a clue" phase

Really feel for your club, another owner who is only interested in lining their own pockets.

I suppose the team only has to turn up and 7 players be on the pitch for the kick-off for the match to be considered played - they don't actually have to kick a ball.
