Why do we bother putting our players on contracts? Buchanan, Inman and now Theophaneous all go for NOTHING. Are we that rich that we don't need the money.

Contracts work. The board was dumb enough to cancel the contract. Therefore Ks got OkeyDokeyed
If anything it's just as embarrassing on our board

As noted elsewhere, the Club agreed to cancel Louie's contract on the basis of false and deliberately misleading information from the player and, accordingly, are arguably entitled to rescind the early cancellation of the contract and/or seek damages for financial loss.
Whether they will or not...?

The clubs statement states he needed a break from football. Players statement doesn't go that far. Only states he can't commit to Kingstonian.
I reckon legally it would be He Said They Said mess. Unless if course the contract termination papers stated the reasoning and was clear and in line with the clubs statement

Louie is quoted in the article saying:
"With a young family at home and a new business, it's been really hard for me to balance everything as a man. Leaving Kingstonian has nothing to do with football or a desire to play for any other club. It is purely for personal reasons".

Nothing about taking a break however

Kind of implied when saying "leaving Kingstonian has nothing to do with football or a desire to play for any other club" don't you think?
Certainly doesn't suggest he's then going to sign for another club 12 hours later.

With what Stones has posted the club had various options.
To say to Louie tough until your contract runs out your our player.
You can go but we want compensation.
Fair enough we'll cancel the contract.
I suppose a few factors come into play, what was his contract with Ks, what he said to Ks and how the board think it is right to treat an individual in this circumstance

Very good question which needs an answer.
If we are wanting to sign a good player and remembering we are only one part of a contract,it may not be a contract that is always of greatest benefit to us.Maybe the player insists on one prior to putting his name on paper. However we know nothing of this contract but it seems we have no benefit on this player walking out for the silver.
When one sais, thats a good question,it normally means,I am struggling for an answer
