National Carers Week 8 to 14 June

National Carers Week starts today; with local activities being undertaken by our community partners Kingston Carers Network.

Research by Sheffield and Leeds Universities highlighted that according to last Census there are 14463 unpaid carers in Kingston. The researchers estimate that these carers provide £239 million worth of care In our Borough alone. On average there are also understood to be on average two to three young carers in every class. At the moment many carers are under even greater pressure due to the Covid 19 crisis.

Kingston Carers’ Network are currently supporting over 3,000 adult carers and over 700 young carers in Kingston through a wide range of services. Kingston Carers Network are continuing to provide help for carers including through telephone support and contact via Zoom.
