Khosla's Return

By Olde School Ks (OldSchoolKs)2/7 08:07Thu Jul 2 08:07:28 2020

No football fan wants to see whats happening to Wigan and when Beggbies Trayner are the administrator appointed you have to fear the worst.
It seems bleak for Wigan and others coming down the line but as we at Ks know,it could mean the rise of the "Khosla" types raising their heads once again. One may wonder if the little book of names of those waiting to asset strip a club is open once again.
Various names on the high street are struggling and may go where others have gone but for anyone who falls by the wayside there is an money man waiting to pick up the pieces. These people cant wait for a rescession to pick up any scraps.Beware

Wigan will be alright, there's the 'fit & proper persons' test for prospective EFL club owners that will make sure they are ok.

What's the font for sarcasm?

Yes- it seems quite incredible that the new owners passed all the "stringent" tests a couple of months back and then couldn't see it through to the end of the season. Caymen Islands link seems a bit iffy too.

Also the 12 point deduction rule seems not quite right- if they can finish 12 points clear of relegation they can avoid it, if they finish above the relegation places but less than 12 points then they get relegated both of which is sort of fair, but then if they end up in the relegation spots they effectively get punished double by a 12 point deduction next season. I can see this just being the start of the administrations so league tables are going to start looking ridiculous next season- a stay out of administration and you probably stay up type thing.

Maybe they have already had their Khosla moment in reverse with owners dumping at the first sign of trouble. Very sad for my adopted town as the DW is the focal point of a sprawling complex of shops, restaurant, cinema etc and, not that I like Rugby, but you have an excellent stadium supporting two sports. Compared to Bury I think there is a lot more potential to make it work with loads of function rooms serving the wider community. Can't see them turning it into houses but no doubt the vultures will be circling.

Sadly Mr Khosla would have passed the fit and proper test.

Hardly anyone ever fails it!

Hence the sarcasm.

At least the cherished 92 get the lip service. Below that it seems it's a free for all for shit & bust merchants or money launderes.

Presumably Wigan can get 10k signatures on their own but would be nice if a few people on here sign it.

Wigan only have two weeks now as Begbies have said they can't "see through the season" and need a buyer by 31st August:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/aug/13/wigan-administrators-set-strict-deadline-of-31-august-for-potential-buyers

I suspect this is just the start of many clubs in trouble.

Meanwhile the government has responded to the petition and while you could take their response as a bit of waffle to be seen to be doing something it was encouraging at least to see talk of a "fan led review" of football governance.
