Potters Bar Game - Bar??

CorCas weren't offering food/drink services for their Enfield game.

Anyone reckon this will also be the case for us on Wednesday?

Hardly the end of the world if no food and drink are being offered. My advice would be to go elsewhere rather than give any more money to that ungrateful club!

Surprised at you Filllpo.
Of coarse you should be doing food and drink to some extent at least.
Really amazing because they are the ones that are losing even if they think they are screwing us.The bar is theirs and it should make money

Indeed. They’ve made it very clear what they think about our generosity, so forgive me if I don’t go out of my way to line their coffers this season.

Why would they be so desperate for rent money from us if they don't pay their players?

Isn’t that a fallacy though? It’s not as though wages are the only expense for any club. There will still be other considerable fixed costs, ie ground rent, electricity, maintenance, business rates etc? Are clubs even at this level generally self sustaining without a benefactor financially?

also, it's obviously fine for them to pay their players but they shouldn't claim to be amateur nor disingenuously crowdfund without informing donors where the money really goes...

True. But they get crowds of 300 every other week, they have bar income, they sell shirts and merchandise to Brazil. Surely that covers a low council rent and ground maintenance? The reason they need additional income from us includes wages to Bracken and payment to players - the latter is not conjecture, it's been confirmed by former and current Casuals. As one Casual said "it's tough at the moment financially because a decision was taken to invest in the squad so we can stay at this level".

Think you are missing the point. All other clubs that pay their players have those overheads. They don’t however claim ‘amateur’ status as part of their brand.

But what evidence is there of that? This is suggested repeatedly but there never seems to be anything beyond conjecture.

Of what? Claiming amateur status at every opportunity? You do realise a lot of their fans do speak to our fans and so yes whilst you might like the hearsay angle, I can’t physically go and get your evidence. I’ve not literally said everything I’ve heard is true, however I do like to question rather than believe everything I’m told.

On Saturday they beat ten men Enfield but their yobish element could not forget to slag Ks off for most of the match. The quicker we move the better, the most unsporting crowd in the League who do not appreciate that it is our money that allows them to play in the Premier.

For a team who's support boasts a number of Womble & Sutton fans (two teams who's fans have had multiple bunches in their panties about us singing songs about them) the irony isn't lost here.

Nice to know that we pay rent on their ground but we live rent free in their heads.

But it’s a two way street though surely? It’s their ground that enables Ks to currently play in the home Borough.

Yes and we were grateful to start with, there were even discussions about a joint project for the future. That turned sour, signs have been stolen, their fans have been aggressive and abusive to ours so remind me why we should be grateful?

I don’t think there is a need for either party to be grateful nor is gratitude being sought. It’s a business relationship at the end of the day which presumably remains mutually beneficial to both parties despite the breakdown of the proposed partnership.

Mutualy beneficial should indeed be the criteria here but seems the original relationship turned sour some time ago.
Both sets of supporters now suffer including away fans who may be more importent when they maybe travelling some way as we are so often.
A beer or coffee and a samdwich are almost expected on a trip to a game and ads to the day out experience and with us being cut off from any local bar or cafe.
I wonder how many cans are being drunk during a game,at least a well run bar can moniter things

I don't see why they can't operate an outdoor bar selling cans or draught from kegs as other clubs do/have done. And a tea/coffee urn with some snacks.

Of coarse if they could be bothered they could operate a bar and refreshment operation.
Grounds smaller than ours/Casuals seem to be ok.
Covid a good excuse once again for cant be bothered

At my age I have great memories of Richmond Road. One of those memories is of the tea bar, a lady I only knew as Kath served hot tea in a china mug with a handle also a variety of buns and sandwiches. Migh how things have changed to think sixpence for a mug of tea and for another threepence a bun. On top of that you had an afternoons entertainment also change out of half a crown.
