If I remember correctly the Windsor ground was very picturesque and on the edge of the great park just outside the turn.
Very rural

"Yesterday's Hero" (1979) was filmed at Windsor & Eton FC's ground (along with Wembley, Maidenhead and Ipswich).

'Stan's Last Game'

Does anybody else remember when, around 1982, there was some filming carried out at our old Richmond Road ground for a short T.V. film called 'Stan's Last Game'?
I recall that they turned the home of Kingstonian into the home of 'Otley Moor F.C.'.
I've tried to research this production but can't find much out about it on the net.

With help from Phil Windeatt, I've found this:
From: https://www2.bfi.org.uk/archive-collections/introduction-bfi-collections/bfi-mediatheques/all-mediatheque-films
Stan’s Last Game, 1983 (63min), starring James Grout, Bert Parnaby & Bill Paterson (was in Fleabag, recently)
"Black comedy in which the rivalry between two football club chairmen is exacerbated following the death of a long-time fan."
Collection: Play for Today (although there is some doubt about some episodes and whether or not they were officially part of the series)

Yes, that one is well documented but I don't think many folk remember 'Stan's Last Game' having been filmed there around 1982 and the show going out on TV on 25th October 1983.

And I believe the Duke of Edinburgh was Windsor & Eton's President. Very good game if memory serves.

Below an article "The Death Of Windsor & Eton" on the always excellent 200% blog, there's a comment suggesting that "As a team we played some occasional matchs at Stag Meadow in itself a priveledge being Royal Land and the Duke of Edinburgh as President (or was it Patron)?"
https://twohundredpercent.net/the-death-of-windsor-eton/
In related news, the Duke of Kent was president of The FA (1971 to 2000). Funny old world, innit?
