Awards Night and a chance to ask questions
Views: 645
As well as showing our appreciation of our players the highly successful cup run, there will be other updates and an opportunity to put questions to Mark Anderson and Hayden Bird. This will include more details about how the restart and potential season extension will affect the Ks.

About last night

Did Mark Anderson basically say we won't be ground sharing with Cor-Cas beyond next season because investing in the improvements necessary for National League grading would be a waste of money given how close we are to building our own home??

The way I read it is that if we are in a good position to be promoted then upgrading King George’s will not be value therefore alternative options are in consideration. If we don’t look like being promoted then it’s likely we will remain there. I take it that the new ground option is advanced (By advanced I mean site located with design ) and is likely to be of conference south standard. Just an assumption.

What are the alternative options locally in the Kingston borough (because nobody wants another Leatherhead scenario) which are Conference South standard? I can only think of one & we're allegedly not welcome there.

We don’t know how close we are to our own home but the directors, management come across as upbeat. If it is likely we would be in our own ground in a couple of seasons and the choice was gaining promotion and being outside the borough for 1/2 seasons or declining promotion. I would take the promotion.

I dunno if I would to be honest (thankfully it isnt my decision!). I'd rather be an Isthmian Premier side playing in their catchment area or, at least adjacent to it as curren, than be a National League South side playing in some random SW London/Rural Surrey ground even as a temporary measure.
It could be a glorious master chess move, but my pessimism makes me think we'll go up, move away, have no fans & get relegated because we couldn't afford a competitive squad due to reduced gates or alternatively we get unsustainably funded throughout this & end up losing our new ground to some bullshit ridiculous phoenix club who shouldn't be anywhere near the area in a repeat of history.
Of course, if the temporary venue was to be KM then (for once at leaat) I'll have nothing negative to say :)

I appreciate your point of view and not knowing the facts we can only speculate. I am optimistic the directors and management will make the right decisions based on what detail is in front of them at that time. There is always the caveat of the unknown but sometimes the unknown could be in our favour.

This is why I'm pessimistic... I'm either right or I'm happy. Win win :)
