4 Years...

...Since we left Kingsmeadow. 4 years as Nomads and Wanderers. I am immensely grateful to the Directors for stewarding us through these rocky times but now is the time for transparency and to set out their plans and visions for all the fans who have stood by this club. It is understood that there are commercial sensitivities around negotiations, but I believe the fans deserve to know the direction the club is going. Agree?

Totally agree but four long years and not a word from our Board saving a failed plan for Chessington Golf Centre.
Not a word and not a hint of what maybe happening it's as though we don't belong to our own club.
Knowing the sensitivities around any possible move but understanding we are the past and the future, can we please oh please, have some sort of update on where we are going.
A sensitive week where owners of clubs have been made to realise they are but passing through and the supporters, poor souls, will always be there.

Commercial sensitivities? Yup, I understand that. But maybe the Board could answer some of the questions that come up frequently - without breaching those sensitivities?

I think we've been told that we'll be in the Borough of Kingston. Is that still the case, is it proceeding well? Can someone tell us how large our new home might be? Will it have a 4G pitch? Training facilities? Do we anticipate sharing with anyone else? Will financing the project involve money from the FA, National Lottery, Government, banks, etc? Will supporters be offered an opportunity to share (invest?) in our new home? How soon will it happen - even approximately?

An update would be nice please? Thanks in advance :)

We would all like greater certainty about the Club’s long term future and location. There have been briefings about plans ground from Mark Anderson at two online fans forum. My understanding is that as fans have been told that:
- The objective is to have our own ground (so not a ground share)
- A site has been identified in the Borough of Kingston
- There have been a series of discussions with the owners
- That there are good transport links to the site..
- The plan is to have a 4G pitch
- In order to finalise plans, the Club need to meet the owners on site once it is safe to do so

The details of the planned layout and facilities can not really be discussed prior to agreeing this with the owners of the site. There will also be a need to obtain planning permission and I don’t know whether the Directors will want to announce a new ground until planning permission has been obtained.

There will though be another on line fans Forum before the start of the season and therefore an opportunity to ask further questions.

When you go for planning permission it goes into the public domain so people can comment on it, they'll have to share info at that point. And Ks fans will need to make the case for it as you can be sure there will be people lining up to oppose. Look how much trouble Horsham had getting planning permission for example.

That is true but I suspect we won’t see a repeat of when the Chessington plans were displayed at Kingsmeadow; well in advance of the planning application.

Possibly not a totally wasted effort, it could become a blueprint for a ground elsewhere.

Good post Rex, it would be perfectly possibly to give a steer on most or all of these questions without breaching commercial confidentiality. I'm afraid it's hard to have any confidence in the project when so little is disclosed about it. The funding particularly alarms me given the likely cost of anything up to standard, and the club's history of nearly going bust thanks to ground improvements.

To Generic K's original post it's hard to believe it's only four years ago, as so much has happened since - to Ks, to the ground and in life/the news. It feels like a lifetime ago.

This board has guided K's through thick and thin since the Kholer (spit) years. Yes it is as much frustrating for them as it is for the supporters and I have vented my spleen on them as well as anybody. My dream is for a positive settlement and that is a permanent ground that we can call home in the Royal Borough.
