Why Are Balham in the SURREY cup? I know at one time Surrey extended all the way up to the South Bank but not now.

It depends no what County FA you’re affiliated to, for instance Dulwich Hipsters hold the record for winning the Surrey Senior Cup the most times, but they no longer compete in the competition as they aren’t now affiliated to the SFA. I assume that they now compete in the London Senior Cup?

Like the almighty, the Surrey FA move in mysterious ways (although not necessarily to perform wonders).

Until 1889, the current area of Wandsworth was part of the county of Surrey and on that basis they are affiliated to Surrey FA. I must admit that what you say makes sense to me but then again the same could be said about Kingstonian as Kingston upon Thames became a London Borough in 1965.

All rather curious but I’m not sure it is worth getting too exercised about.

Ah but the postal address for Kingston-upon-Thames says Surrey.

True. When the boundaries of Surrey were changed in 1965 and Kingston, Sutton, Richmond, Merton and Croydon were moved into Greater London, the Post Office and the FA ignored the fact. Hence, we even still have a Middlesex FA, even though there is no such place!

Speaking of Middlesex as a 'defunct' county, its
hard to believe that the county of Middlesex stretched from
Ponders End in the north, right down to Hampton Wick in the South and incorporated many towns and suburbs in between.

I always was of the opinion that when you went over Kingston Bridge you were in Middlesex, Thus Hampton Wick was in Middlesex. Politicians what do they know !!

Wasn’t the first King of a “united England” crowned on the river at Kingston because it was the boundary between the two Saxon Kingdoms of Wessex and Mercia?

Obviously this wasn't the best opposition but Buchs is such a top-class striker.

The season before joining Ks Elliot scored 43 goals for Staines. At about the half way stage of this season , he has already scored 20 goals for Ks and 5 for Farnborough while on loan. As you say, pretty outstanding really.
