Welcome to Tooting and Mitcham
Views: 1804
I wanted to unofficially welcome K's Fans, Directors and management to Tooting.
I am currently one of many fans boycotting Tooting home games but I did attend our last game against Staines to sample the Jerk Chicken for you and to say goodbye to Dean Hamlin. I can confirm the Chicken and rice off the bone is top draw. We also offer traditional food like burger and chips. Etc....
I think you will enjoy your stay and I know their are plenty of Tooting fans looking forward to watching some Isthmian League Premier football at Tooting.
So again I say Welcome and enjoy our new friendship and partnership.

Many thanks for the info and yet another warm welcome.
I live on the 280 bus route some of the time so ill be ok. Other times Brighton to east Croydon and a tram I think.
The cask ale and jerk chicken combo will be a welcome change from the CC /Tolworth 10 cold chips horror show.
Pop along and see us . It won't be same for you but you'd be v welcome.
Thanks again.

Forgive my ignorance, but why are some fans boycotting games?

A long story but in short.
One of our coaches for the first team was a founder director of FW Consultants Group. They offer a service to players for a fee in extra coaching and a path way to trial at professional clubs. They encourage players not to sign contracts at Tooting so we give players away for free. Look at Iaash Jones at Middlesbrough. Hady at Charlton not a penny of compensation. Now senior players have been let go like Darryl Coleman, Tom Jelley , Peter Wedgeworth to name a few . They left Dean Hamlin on the bench for months while we was losing games last season. The did all this to play children that are not first team quality. If it wasn't for Whyteleafe and Staines we would be playing Combined Counties football. All this after our Chairman got planning permission to build flats around the stadium.
It's really bad and moral is very low at the club. So K's coming will be a lift for a lot of us who care about what happened to you guys.

I hear there is a decent selection. I am sorry I rarely drink alcohol. I have had a lovely cold Guinness there before.

...I doubt Chezzer avails himself of it.

You used to have a Steward called, I think, Derek ? Fossitt. He was a drummer and his brother used to go out and sing under the name of Roy Peters.
Do you know of them and do you know if they are still both around?

Derek was a family friend. Infact their whole family was like family to us. I used to knock around with Steve their youngest son. The Fossett family moved to Portsmouth about 25 years ago. Sadly Del has now passed and left his wife Chrissie and family heart broken.
Del was the best of the best of men.

I got to play with him once at 'Winstons Club' in Cheam.
He on Drums, Roy on guitar and Lead Vocal, Rob Davies (Mud) on guitar, Chris Manwaring on keyboard, Me on guitar.
I used to watch, and sometimes get to play with Roy.
I have an Album which he recorded with some of his friends, including Rob Davies.
Is Roy still out there do you know?

I know Roy but haven't seen him since he was at my parents house probably 27 years ago. My dad has a copy of their Album. Great Times.

Wow reminds me of my childhood. That's Paul's channel ,Del's eldest boy. They did lose Jane Fossett one of the daughters if you knew the family.

Gary, I'm probably giving my age away here, but is Bill Hill still around? A very, very good drinking partner from many years back when TMUFC and KFC used to meet up at pre-season friendlies.

Bill isn't sadly. I love Bill. He has retired to Hastings I believe. I bumped into him at Ramsgate away a few years ago and sold him a van for his business.
Don't worry mate I have been going to Tooting for 47 seasons. I didn't have much choice as a child as my grandad was a Committee Member. 😆

Thanks for the quick reply Gary, and I know that many of my old K's mates who knew him will be interested in Bill's whereabouts. More to the point, I've also retired to the Eastbourne area (pretty close to Hastings!) so I'm now keeping my eyes open for TMUFC games in this area. If you see him, tell him it's his round (again).

Thanks for the info.
I'm really looking forward to watching the K's at Tooting.
I can already sense that the you guys are going to be more welcoming and friendly than we may have experienced at previous venues.
