Kingstonian’ were one of the first clubs to have supported young carers as part of their approach to community engagement. A report by the Young Carers Alliance “Young Carers and Football “ describes activities in 24 football clubs ranging from Manchester City to Kingstonian. https://www.caringtogether.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Football-and-Young-Carers-June-2022.pdf

The Supporters Club Committee are amongst those wanting the FA to take similar action around carers and young carers to that taken around mental health.

Many fans will remember Tim Sills as our star striker for 18 months or so until he went full time. Tim was initially on loan from Basingstoke and then played for the Ks for the 2002/3 season. Tim went on to have several seasons in the football league Tim’s older brother Julian also played for the club appearing 108 times.

Anyway, I came across Tim who now works for the charity MYTIME for Young Carers and who have a partnership with AFC Bournemouth. Along with Kingstonian, Bournemouth are amongst the 24 football clubs identified as supporting young carers.

I remember there being some unhappiness about the way he left us.

That apart, him and his brother after him, were great players and lovely people.
