Communication let me down
Views: 907
I have read with mounting anguish as people have poured out their fears and frustrations in the last article. I hear them and can sympathise but feel so much of that could have been avoided with a positive spin from the club.
Personally, I think the board have done a great husbandry of the club over the years, but have totally failed with the task of promoting the club.
I don't know if there's a salesman on the board, but boy do they need one. I think it has been shocking that the club can lose a manager, move out the borough, cut the budget and remain silent. Come on, give us a positive spin, something to bond fearful supporters to the club. Make them feel they're needed as a young manager tries to build a new team. Something to stop the 'can't be bothered' attitude.
Right here goes.....
We have a financially secure team playing in a good league. We will be playing in a fine stadium and can enjoy that away game excitement...every week. We have a talented young coach who will be building an exciting team that needs your support. Come on down and give the lads that unique Kingstonian support. We're all in this together, together we can move mountains.
Sorry, cheesy but that kind of thing.

Personally I feel spin is the last thing we need and if the club put out a message like that I'd find it tone deaf and lacking credibility.
The reality is we aren't financially secure as we've relied on directors' loans for years and we're whittling the AFC money down by renting; the team is in a worrying shape; and 'that away day excitement' is a meaningless justification of a long journey to home games. Comms that claim things are fine are as likely to be met with raised eyebrows, ridicule or even anger as they are a positive response.
The bit of your statement I agree with is the encouraging everyone to work together. But it has to be done against a reality that the club is asking everyone to pay more money and travel further to watch a worse team. That's a tough ask.
I'd much rather see comms that acknowledges we're in a difficult situation; gives supporters reassurance that there's a plan now Lovelace is (presumably?) dead; asks our opinion about the future of the club; and seeks our continued support in helping to get through a difficult few years ahead towards a hopefully brighter future.

enjoyed the post. agree with the husbandry line.
i disagree tho on a lot of it. leaving aside Tooting is not gonna feel like an away game... the problems we have at the moment are BECAUSE of the spin, or at best naivety. we need some honesty and a real stock take of where we are. otherwise we'll keep fritting away the Wombles money, and believe in nonsense like Lovelace will be "the envy of non league" (we still haven't been told Lovelace is a non-starter yet)

'We haven't been told lovelace is a non starter'
We haven't been told anything.
I'm a patient man, but this silence from the board and
playing management is now ridiculous.

Lovelace is pretty much dead, onto plan X/Y/Z or whatever it is.
I’m patient person (at times) but realistically the light to the sky is getting closer & it just seems hope is fading on a home we can call our own.
The silence from manager is he’s on holiday booked before the promotion plus as mentioned have to work around school holidays & the silence of the board is probably because of work or/& family (hopefully we’ll get something before the season starts, Jamie might have a FaceTime interview incoming but only he could confirm that.

I get he's missing the next PSF for a holiday but I thought i'd read he's missed others - got to be a primary role watching "A Trialist" surely - but as always there can be circumstances.
I want to get behind Lee and his team - i've just not seen anything aside from the initial interview - I guess we gorged on HB's communication-fest...until we had the Feb bad run that is

Can't comment
He's a great guy and loves this club
But our Club PR to fans and community seems poor
We do have an announcement on performance kit sponsors
