Wrong decision for me, I think stadiums singing the anthem and observing a silence would have been better than not playing, but also understandable.

Anyone who saw the minutes silence, followed by the (new) national anthem at the beginning of today's test match at The Oval, would probably agree that football has made the wrong call in postponing this weekend's fixtures.

The local football club shares a sports ground with cricket club. F A Trophy game called off, swiftly arrange cricket match taking place there.

Celtic and Hibernian aren't even under the FA's jurisdiction.
Agree with Rex and a lot of other commentary today, it's a missed opportunity for communal commemoration and is really ill-judged. Any arguments about policing resources or fan behaviour fall apart when even grassroots has been called off.
It's hard to imagine The Queen herself, who loved sport and usually embodied a spirit of keep calm and carry on, would have approved of the decision.
But clearly a lot of organisations being overcautious in fear of a backlash from the tabloids. It seems even more bizarre that Last Night Of The Proms, which more than pretty much anything else you can think of embodies celebration of the monarchy and the British establishment, has made the same decision.

Alternatively...
The FA probably called off this weekend's fixtures for fear of football supporters singing songs about Nonce Andrew and that time the Queen paid £12m of our money to hush up his accusers.
And sorry but Last Night of the Proms is NOT a celebration of the monarchy or the establishment. Yes, they sing the national anthem at the end but the whole purpose of the Proms is to make music accessible (tickets started at £7 for every concert this year), no member of the royal family attend, and Blake's Jerusalem is a socialist anthem, the rights to which were once owned by the suffragette movement. Indeed for many people, Jerusalem is the preferred alternative to the awful dirge that is God Save the Queen King.

Last year the public gave her £85m in Sovereign Grant, £350m in policing & security costs, plus the £650m Duchy of Lancaster passing from mother to son without Inheritance Tax. And the rumoured £200m cost of a new Floating Gin Palace (aka the Royal Yakult).
Tell me again how this is "Her own money"...

The FA would have to have a depressingly dim view of football supporters if that's true, particularly when the games at West Ham and Man United went off fine afaik. And that wouldn't justify stopping grassroots and even kids' football either. But yeah it's the FA, so you're probably right.

Sounds like the correct decision in that case.
Swift guidance for the trip to Hastings would be particularly helpful given the journey involved.
