Clashes with World Cup games

Are there any plans to move Ks fixtures where they may clash with World Cup games?

Our home game with Cray will clash with a second round game involving England if England finish second in the group

Our away game at Wingate will clash with a semi

Our home game against Margate will clash with the third-place playoff (if you care)

There's obviously going to be clashes with *some* WC games, but can't help thinking that avoiding knockout games would be useful where possible. Personally, I'm not gonna travel up to Wingate over a World Cup semi. But I'd go if it was moved to the Monday or the Thursday!

So we're up to 4x midweek clashes and 4x Saturday clashes with the World Cup. There appears to have been no attempt at creativity from competitions and clubs in terms of match days (Wingate/Casuals), kick-off times (Cray, Hornchurch, Margate). And it'll be even more infuriating if and when kick-off times are changed at late notice.

It might not be us it maybe other clubs. The cray one would screw me over having to get back from the north via a bus replacement service between Luton & hitchin as I’m supposed to be back in north London for 12. Kick off isn’t for that one till 18:00 anyway.

The casuals game is & was going to be a low turnout out anyway.

Agree with the premise, MC and while not clashing with the World Cup, playing Casuals midweek when both teams appear to have Saturday 19th Nov free also seems like a bit of a shame.

The Cray game is definitely a candidate for a kick off time change but, the question is, how much earlier, or indeed later, would it be moved?

A fair question.

I'd be tempted to move that one and the Third-Place Playoff KO times to 1pm, and then hope people venture into the bar for (potential England) games afterwards.

The down-side is it might end up being Iran v Ecuador and no-one will care.

But, as we've seen on the forum, people don't like late KO changes, so better to do it in advance.

Think the Wingate one would have to change date entirely. Maybe others are more dedicated, but surely clashing with a World Cup semi will mean a pretty low crowd. And I expect the players wouldn't mind watching it!

I see no down-sides:

If the Third-Place Playoff does end up being Iran v Ecuador, I'd be much more likely to watch it in the clubhouse with a few friends around, than watch it at home alone.

(And that's before we even begin to consider that some members of this parish might have rather more interest in the game than you or me!)

So many bars and venue's have been looking at the World Cup which as ever will grip the nation when paticularly England are playing but also with our diverse population with many countries.
It is not something to ignore but embrace to get financial benefits from it.
Move kick off times to fit and enjoy a crowd who will come and watch and maybe stay after to watch eat and drink in the bar.
We are always slow to look forward but it's not too late.Casuals would never have done it but in partnership with Tooting is it just a hope we could look forward to Ks and England fitting together.
For the Welsh....we can embrace them as well

There is 2 knock out games Dec 3rd 3pm and 7pm kick offs. So moving earlier is probably the best bet.
