Fixture Complications

While we are simply trying for a point this week and keeping our goal difference to a minimum we are obviously looking below us as to what can be most defining.
At the top where we once looked it is so interesting when you think about it that if you can get the points needed for promotion others may think of a team of reserves next week if they find they cant go up automatically but qualify for play offs without another point being needed for the last day.Such a possible bearing on relegation but complicated.
However for ourselves a point for safety and the hope we never get into this position again

Forgive my pedantry, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think goal difference actually matters.

Obviously the only way Herne and/or Bowers can catch us is if either win both their games and we lose both our games. And should that happen, the nature of those results mean both will have a better goal difference than us anyway.

So I don't think we need to worry about goal difference.

I’m hopeful of a Hornchurch win/draw tomorrow, which would send Bowers down.

Herne Bay go to Wingate & Finchley, who are mathematically safe. That’s a bit more nerve racking.

Anyway - hopefully the lads can spring an away day surprise like they did so well at Bognor and Folkestone, and we don’t need to worry about the goings on in North and East London.

The worry is that Herne Bay beat Wingate (which I expect them to do) and that Bishop's Stortford have the league wrapped up before they play Herne Bay on the final day. You would expect Hornchurch to beat Bowers though to ensure that doesn't happen. Hopefully it's all irrelevant and the K's get us a surprise point or three tomorrow.

If Bishop's Stortford win tomorrow then Hornchurch won't be able to catch them. If Canvey win their two games they'll still be able to catch them on the last day.

Very true, Hornchurch well and truly bottled it by the looks of things. Top of the league with two games in hand and now relying on a lot of things going their way. Let's hope Canvey win their next two to keep Bishop's Stortford on their toes at Herne Bay.

That is the potential nightmare scenario. Bishops Stortford on the beach (both metaphorically and literally) at Herne Bay and Hornchurch needing to beat K’s to try and ensure they have home matches in the play-offs.

Agree on all counts with all the posts on here. It reminds me that before technology landed on this planet you paid your shilling and either hated the result or you cheered until your lungs burst. Yes I am old but just tying to catch up with the 21st century. But I can still shout COME ON YOU K's

I'm old enough to remember when FootballWebPages had a GoingUp and GoingDown feature for the last 6 games of the season

So many things changed Rex and rarely for the better certainly of the fans but I remember the once brilliant Surrey Comet.
The vomit as it became known in its demise was a once true news paper and large in size and comment and with a separate section for sport.Comprehensive coverage of all sport and football particually covering even Little League football so popular throughout the Borough.
Oh those days of going out for the Comet on a Saturday to read everything local
