The funny thing is...at times in the first couple of months we didn't look bad at all.

We had a couple of convincing home victories. I also thought in both the away game at Wingate and the away game at Hashtag were were largely excellent, didn't take our chances up front and were a bit unlucky with refereeing decisions.

If we'd won those two games, we would have got 6 points from them rather than 1 and we'd be looking a bit healthier.

And maybe more significantly we would have more confidence, particularly away from home - we still haven't won in the league on the road all season (yet did manage a very well deserved win at Hastings in the cup, our only highlight of the campaign so far).

Despite the results I rather like Lane. It must be really tough trying to build a squad with good quality and good morale when the board are useless and the supporters are increasingly disengaged from the club. I really feel for him as he seems like a good bloke, a hard-working coach and probably a decent judge of a player. The current lot haven't been doing well this season, but quite a few of them, I get the sense that if you put them in a top-half team they'd look pretty good. I feel like Lane might be quite a good manager for the league below, which sadly we may have to start planning for now.

It's not nice to hear all the anger from fans at the end of the game at Carshalton but it's understandable and inevitable. And, quite rightly, it was about the board rather than the manager/players. They are the cause of the malaise.

I hope we can still enjoy a few of our remaining away days. I will miss visiting the likes of Lewes, Potters Bar and Folkestone. I almost feel like we should designate a few good away days as 'enjoy the day out' days and some others as 'display how angry we are with the board' days. We need to force this lot out, but we also deserve to have some fun too.
