I am disappointed with the lack of information from the playing side and cannot understand the thinking behind this.

I agree completely. He presumably either thinks a) he's getting a marginal gain on Billericay by keeping the team secret or b) he's just terrified that everyone knows how bad our budget is and as soon as they see someone playing for Kingstonian they'll poach them on a 7 day approach.

The trouble is it's completely hamstrung any attempts to get people excited for the season which has a knock-on effect on crowds and budget - and the board are hardly doing anything in that regard to begin with. How can you get anyone looking forward to the games when there's no reason to believe we'll be improved from last season? Season ticket deadline came and went with no new signings to excite people. I know of lots of longstanding loyal Ks fans who aren't renewing (sure that's mainly Mitcham but a half decent team wouldn't hurt).

Simon Lane did a good coaching job last season but I think he needs to realise that at this level, the manager has to do a bit more to be a focal point for the club and help generate interest and fundraising. Dowse and Bird very much got this. Events, Zoom calls, interviews, written stuff for the website, etc. Get the fans excited about the season and feeling part of the club. The board certainly aren't doing anything proactive.
