Today's protest

It was significant, i think, that such a wide range of fans (different groups, families and generations) gathered outside the ground to express their discontent with the club's trajectory, spending all of the first half on a bramble/litter-strewn knoll with only a partial view of the pitch. There were no K's fans in the terrace behind the goal. Absolutely none. (While there was a healthy Hastings contingent, the official attendance of 227 appeared rather optimistic.)

All in all, it felt like a new low for K's. But also at least an attempt at arresting the decline.

For there to be not a single Director at a home match is unusual to say the least. Let's hope they see the pictures and understand the message.

A big thanks to the Supporters Club for organising and mobilising. While not all K's fans may agree with the strategy, surely we can all share the same fears for the present and future. Sometimes i hear other fans say "well, we've got a team to watch, things have been worse, there'll always be K's". I don't think that can be stated now with any confidence. I also often hear an understandable sentiment that "the Directors have done their best" and thus criticism should be tempered. I agree that they have done their best - but their best has got us where we are today and i have grave doubts that Yiorgios is capable of running a football club in any direction other than down.

Plainly, there are moves afoot behind the scenes. The new chairman has yet to make any public announcements about his vision for the club, his plans for next season, the role (if any) of his fellow directors and shareholders, the budget shortfall and how to address it, communications, social media, fundraising, a groundshare (let alone a new permanent home).

There is silence. And, amid that silence, we can only look at the objective state of the club through attendances, the league position and the diminished AFC money in the latest accounts. Those numbers don't lie.

Oh, and K's lost. Again.
