They've now put out a statement, basically their funding from the police lottery has been cut. (Personally I never understood why so much money from that lottery went to paying journeyman semi pros to play in front of 100 fans, and not more on sports facilities that rank and file police/staff could use).
Another part of their cost cutting is axing their reserve team. So we have a ground just outside the borough, where the pitch is being used less than it used to be, and the host club is suddenly a lot more desperate for money. It would also guarantee that we'd be in the South Central division if we get relegated, rather than risking South East if we stay in Mitcham.
We should be immediately contacting them about playing there in 24/25.

Public transport is terrible or non-existent. Just a half hourly service by train to Thames Ditton, no thanks.

I’d bet if K’s moved there within a few weeks there would be gripes on the forum about its inaccessibility by public transport, lack of atmosphere etc. Being opposed to the ground share arrangement at Tooting & Mitcham shouldn’t obscure the disadvantages and risks of playing at Imber Court instead.
If K’s managed to retain their status as a step 3 club in 23/24, moving to Imber Court would inevitably mean a move to the Southern League. There would be a risk that the team and management of the club would jump ship as happened when Met Police got moved. Surely the views of the current management team should also be sought first before any approach to the Met Police FC?

Of course you'd talk to the manager before signing a contract somewhere, I don't see why it's necessary before making an initial approach, especially when we've made a public statement saying we're keeping the groundshare under review. Hopefully he'd be on board because I'm sure he can see like everyone else how dire our crowds are in Mitcham.
Bird warned us off the Southern League saying the players would leave. Then he left anyway, followed by nearly all his players. Jim Cooper did indeed leave Met when they got put in that league because he lives in Essex. They found another manager and got to the (super) playoff final.
Point is, players and managers come and go anyway, especially at this level. If the geography is wrong for them it will be right for someone else. Fans on the other hand are much harder to replace when you're playing outside your own community.
There will be gripes until we get our own ground, of course, but I don't believe they'd be anywhere near as bad at Imber Court as they are at Mitcham. It's fundamentally much more suitable us.

We often took more away fans to Imber Court than have attended "home" matches at Mitcham.
But Imperial Fields is less than £20,000 a year and that's all the Board care about.
Perhaps the next update from the club can explain why/how the AFC Wimbledon money is down to £720 000, even after Bird's successful FA Cup and Trophy runs, a significant player sale to a Championship team and two curtailed Covid seasons (when full rent was not paid to Casuals).

You may be right but that does that assume that this would be replicated at Imber Court if it was K’s ‘home ground’. It’s one thing to go there on the odd occasion. It’s quite another when you’re going there every other week, particularly given the poor public transport provision in the area. Whether attendances would actually be higher at Imber Court is debatable. I dare say there’d be a reasonable turnout from K’s fans for an occasional ‘away’ game at Imperial Fields.
There would be considerable disadvantages if K’s were playing in the Southern League at Imber Court. The statement from Met Police FC a couple of days ago outlines them:
“We look forward to a return to the Isthmian League and a number of more local games, which may help with attendance and certainly reduce the extensive travelling costs we have endured in our five seasons in the Southern League.”
Every club that has been placed in the Southern League from the Isthmian League would be more than happy to return. It would be unprecedented for a club to electively make that move itself.

Yes there's a bit less travelling in the Isthmian Premier (about 20%, Gary worked out last year). But Met Police are justifying their voluntary relegation by comparing a step 3 division where the country splits four ways to a step 4 division where it splits eight ways, so quoting that statement is hardly a fair or relevant comparison.

The fact that Met Police FC have voluntarily relegated themselves and Hendon FC and Harrow Borough FC would bolt for the Southern League emergency exit door given the chance does suggest going the other way voluntarily would not be in the best interests of the club.

How many of the team and management of the club currently remain from May 2022?

That’s true but it’s not a model that you’d follow if it could be avoided as clearly demonstrated last season. Hopefully next season is better with a more settled side and Simon at the helm for its entirety.
