Cultural vandalism

⁩ i was just looking for the tim wells interview with jack goodchild which i transcribed for Ks website 18 months ago. It's been wiped and not transferred over to the new site. It also included photos.

Cultural vandalism by the Board.

Also, Simon Grier did about 15 season reviews during covid. All have gone.

I know the board are intent on draining the club's present and destroying the future - but why erode the past as well?

Thanks. I'll ask him.

Perhaps the club can re-upload it to the new website, along with half a decade's worth of Ks history.

or, you know, raise it as a question like a normal person rather than ascribing "vandalism" and all.

Anyway I easily found that interview on the new site, pay attention.

News - search box - "Goodchild" as a search name, there it is.

Simon's guides are also all there.

Do stop this.

Thanks, Rosey!

Perhaps some tutorials on how to use the new website might be helpful for less tech savvy fans.

Great to see the Supporters’ Club members back on the forum. The Kingstonian family is so much stronger when we work together!

Stronger together......is that stating the obvious but great sadness in it needed to be said and we'll done for saying it.
As we approach the new season it has been awfull with information at a premium and a number of people refusing to talk. How sad but how worrying.
As we now prepare what is hopefully a new start can we grow up please and restart supporting our club and pushing forward to get back all that we have thrown away.
What on earth the manager must think one can only imagine but let's now make a new start and stand up for Ks even if the critics disagree with you.

But if a boat is sinking, sometimes it must be better to put up a distress flare and jump into the sea and make for dry land (raynes park vale?)

Speaking of which, I bumped into a former season ticket holder in Mayfair this week (OligarchK) and he said he hasn't been to Mitcham and went to 5 Raynes Park Vale matches last season.

I don’t know how many people I need to see at Raynes Park games to be sure that the journey to Mitcham is crippling the club. but it’s less than the current tally

I think a valuable thing the SC could do is survey fans about Mitcham and make representations to the Board about its disastrous effects on both regulars and semi-regulars.

No doubt the season ticket sales for 2023/4 should concern the Board. But, then again, Womble money as a cushion...

No need to survey fans since we all actually agree we want and need to move away from there. The board has replied several times that they are agreed we will move. The problem is lack of success obtaining a place, not that we need to persuade anyone.
The Club’s lack of success so far is not solely due to their own efforts as some fans think - as anyone wanting to buy a house could see. SC agreed with board AND exKBH group and everyone, that we are trying to move.

I know Hayward isn't happy with Mitcham because, ironically, he told Anderson (who told me) it's "too far to travel to", hence he doesn't attend matches anymore.

Anderson also doesn't like Mitcham but, since he's stepped away, it probably doesn't bother him too much personally.

Yiorgios is perfectly happy at Mitcham, as is Fenwick. They see no urgency in moving, think the £17,000 rent is cheap and sufficient reason to remain while they chase unicorns (intermittent emails with Kingston Council) and will not countenance any alternative which "risks the southern league".

I also never get the impression that the Supporters Club Committee realise Mitcham is terminal for K's. We are entering a second season and the club is falling apart.

And, yes, part of the KBH plan was to invest money to get us out of Mitcham, to retain and grow the fanbase and stay alive while the ground search continues. That is very different to managed decline and disintegration.

They haven't said that we'll move our groundshare from Mitcham - only that we're looking for a permanent ground. That will happen somewhen between five years and never.

Of course the board are ultimately accountable for their approach to the ground hunt. Most people looking for a house will be realistic about their budget and what they can afford. We can't say the same for a board who thought the dwindling six figure sum we have from AFC was remotely adequate to build 'the envy of non-league' from scratch in a muddy horse field. They wasted years on completely unrealistic pipe dreams.

There's already two grounds in Kingston. One won't be possible while there's cuckoo's in the nest, the other is perfectly adequate and feasible but the board seem determined to completely rule it out.

Our former home.

Why do you not think it's an option? I think it's far from ideal, but playing in Kingston is what the club needs. Town club, not borough club for me.

To be fair even if the board ruled it out in the past, they ruled it back in. Mark said so at the fan forum and it was pretty obviously option 3 in the update in March:

Option 3 - Finally, the Club has looked further into the potential development of an existing sports venue. Whilst the Councillors are not keen to dismiss any potential options, there are acknowledged to be complications due to the existing purpose of the site. However, this option will be examined further, in order to assess its viability for development.'

I'd also imagine it's the backup option still under consideration. It's more the Supporters Club that has ruled it out completely.

Everywhere has barriers, the worry is that everything the board/SC pursue always has considerably more barriers than the track does. Which is why we are where we are and I worry if any lessons have really been learned.

Saturday and Sunday training is in the mornings, so a non issue. The stand is big enough for step 2. It's true that we'd need to extend the pitch and build a clubhouse. Every year we waste on unrealistic schemes, we waste more of the AFC money and make it harder and harder to make the track decent rather than doing the bare minimum to make ground grading.

Rosey should be applauded for answering fans’ questions and I hope other committee members will also answer questions without charging for it
