Friendship with Frankfurt
Views: 3376
Bit of a change of the usual interesting discussions, so apologies for that.
A couple months back I saw on a non league Facebook page from one of our fans that we have a friendship with Frankfurt? Apparently we played them (one of the first English teams to do it) straight after WW2, however whenever I try and find information about this I can’t find any? Anyone here able to help as I’d be well interested in reading up on this.
Also if this is true, have we not thought of planning a trip over there for a meet up. I’m sure Frankfurt might quiver in their boots at the thought of playing the pride of south London or having us watch a game putting their ultras to shame, so could we look at a lower league team and start something up there? Doesn’t have to be Frankfurt but if there once was a connection there would be nice to continue it, something like St Pauli have with Clacton On Sea, Altona 93 with Dulwich etc. For the future, might be nice to have something to look forward to once a year. Maybe find a team in a similar situation to us, although that would be quite hard with how they run their teams over there.

Just read the German report on the meeting (against Frankfurt) and although my German is limited, they appear to not like it that our players went out drinking and eating outside of the city and spent their money in the villages. They also wasn’t too impressed with our English style of play of using the wings for attacking. Thanks so much for sharing on how to find this!

100 years anniversary coming up so could there be a plan coming from our socially minded supporters to have a trip to the home of the much loved sausage.
If only it could take our mind off the dreadfull situation we are in just for the moment.
Probably pie in the sky but I am sure if it was faintly possible it would give us some much needed fun for our supporters who have been so starved of late.

Germany Mini Tour, May 2026
What would supporters want? Two games over three, maybe four nights? Coach travel there and back?
What would players want? Would players at our level extend their contract/season for a week or two, to go on a trip like this?
Does anyone have experience of organising a trip like this? Maybe you just have experience of going on a trip like this and you'd be happy to share your thoughts?
