Simon Lane's resignation
Views: 1528
Kingstonian Supporters Club would like to thank Simon Lane for his hard work at the club and for being a thoroughly decent bloke.
We are especially grateful to him for saving us from relegation last season - indeed many Ks fans are left wondering whether the Directors decided to get rid of him yesterday in case he achieved the same miracle again this year!
Over the last few years we have questioned the competence and professionalism of the Directors, but yesterday’s statements mark an embarrassing new low. The Chairman published a statement in which he said that he “mutually accepted Simon's resignation” [excuse me, what?] and advertised for “a manager with a successful track record at a senior level" when the obvious truth is that he wants a cheap manager who'll accept being given yet another relegation budget. The SC is tempted to call on the Chairman to appoint himself as manager so that, when next season’s inevitable and deliberate relegation follows this season’s inevitable and deliberate relegation, he’ll have no-one to blame but himself.
With the Kingstonian Chairman’s incompetence plain for all to see, supporters are now worried that the very survival of the club is at risk. We are alarmed by Simon Lane’s observation that “our unique economics”, already “well adrift of almost every other team in this league”, faces “major adjustments in the immediate future”.
Once again, we call on the Directors to engage with ALL Ks supporters in open, honest and transparent discussions about the Club’s current finances and future fan ownership.
