Farewell Mitcham
Views: 1247
Final match at Mitcham today. The move to Imperial Fields was surely among the worst and most complacent decisions ever taken by the Board, including Yioryios who, lest we forget, fully supported it. The era ends with crowds down by 2/3, limp relegation and a mass departure of club volunteers.
See you at Hornchurch. And then RPV....

Yes, a bad decision. Good luck to T&M's volunteers and supporters for next season. Strange as it may seem, I'd love to pick up Imperial fields, paint it Red and plonk it in Kingston.
Its a vast stadium, even for level 3.

So that’s it, our Imperial Fields nightmare is over… conceding our 100th goal in the league seems a fitting way to end it.
A few stats of our torrid time (all based on league games only).
Our record:
Actually better than I thought it would be… still dreadful, but not as dreadful as I would have guessed.
23.8% win rate
10wins, 5draws, 27 losses (across 2 seasons)
If we kept that form away… we’d still be going down, but with a more rosey 32 point total.
Most Imperial Fields appearances
No surprises here, the obvious man when any sort of Kingstonian appearance records are mentioned… the main man Rob Tolfrey
Despite some obvious injury issues across the last two years Tolfrey still managed an impressive 31 appearances across 2 seasons (74% of available league games)
Most Imperial Fields goals
Again no shock… 63% of Eddie D’sane’s 19 league goals have come at ‘home’. (12 goals for those of you needing a little help 😉)
Things we’ll miss about Imperial Fields… (some of these may be tongue in cheek)
1. Pitch. Hayden Bird said the quality of the pitch would allow us to play our best football. Whilst the that certainly wasn’t the case and Hayden sadly wasn’t around to implement it, the pitch is fairly good for this level.
2. The promised fantastic acoustics in the boardroom which allowed us to have all those regular board meetings… a big draw of the move! (Who remembers that haha)
3. A mound outside the stadium to watch for free… because our football was certainly not worth paying for.
4. The 22/23 Shack (RIP to previous ownership)
Things we won’t miss about Imperial Fields
1. Travel
2. Waiting 25mins for a tram (Ollie can confirm the record wait)
3. Lifeless atmosphere
4. Despite rarely more than 100 fans, also a struggle for a car parking space
5. The football
6. The Shack 23/24… the surprise that there was a football game going on every week, which they never managed to cater for, a 20min wait. Never has a venue been more ill prepared to cater for fans
Now that’s enough negativity… I think 6 points must still mean I’m safe from a ban given how many more there should be. You might even call it toxic positivity 😉

Here's another stat: unless we beat Hornchurch 9-0 to overtake the 78/79 team, the class of 2023/24 will officially go down as the worst to ever wear the famous red and white hoops.
https://fchd.info/KINGSTON.HTM
It's felt like a few seasons recently have been 'utterly miserable' (17/18, 18/19, 22/23) but this one trumps the lot of them. Good riddance and hopefully things are better in August.

I’d say the decision to *remain* at Imperial fields was the real bad decision
It was clearly going wrong.
fans said so
fans were ignored

But where would the club have gone instead? Even now we still haven’t found a level 3 compliant ground to share that’s closer to Kingston which is why the club effectively took voluntary relegation to secure the ground share at Raynes Park Vale.

Hampton / Met Police / Cor-Cas / Leatherhead?
we don’t know what conversations were had. but I don’t believe nothing was doable. just like I didn’t believe Lovelace. just like we know there were deceptions about the escrow account

From what I’ve heard from other people weather it’s correct or not, take it with a pinch of salt
Hampton - a council issue of wanting to use the new 3G pushing
Met police / Leatherhead (nothing been said about it)
Cor cas - Epsom are there plus I some fans went to their board pushing against its returning.
Hope that helps

Let’s assume this is true…
none of these are bigger obstacles than a horse field in Chessington which we claimed we were gonna love into in a couple of years.
I can’t understand why they weren’t serious considerations

With Hampton is there some issue with the 3g pitch and which would mean we can't/couldn't share? Or have I imagined that.
It seems like the Met has been trying to wind down Met Police for a while (not unreasonably in my opinion). I've had thought there was potential there and possibly for the future.

Think big issue with Met Police in the past was a concern that lots of players would leave the club if the Ks had to play in Southern League.

Apparently the intention to go wasn’t to down according to the chairman lay last night end of season awards. Question is, was RPV ground up to step 3 standards. They’ve been improving it but was up to the standard by the cut of point in March.

If K’s should have left Mitcham at the end of the 22/23 season then the question is where to? RPV were still in the Combined Counties League this time last year so there would have been no chance of going there and retaining step 3 status.

Yiorg probably wasn't in a position to influence the renewal given he was only in charge of marketing, football operations, day to day administration and strategic planning.

25 years ago today, The Grass Is Green song was born. I'd be surprised if there was anyone there willing to give it a rendition today. This board is killing this club.

That is sad for the team after such a torrid season and a bunch of U18s there as well, some(D’sane, Tolfs, Mason) deserve better…
But hopefully it sends a message to the board about the state of things and our thoughts on the latest atrocious statement.
Again it’s also an example of ridiculous decision making as well yet again, after such a terrible season one online fan voted player of the year would have done. Instead the chairman scraped a fans voted award, created his own awards to try make it about himself and tried to create an unneeded event, which given the season was always going to be poorly attended regardless of his statement.
Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s malicious. I think he’s beyond naive, out of his depth and being advised poorly (or has no one left to advise him), which is even worse than malicious as he lacks the skills to turn it round even if he wanted to

Thank you Mitcham!
Excellent facilities compared to Corinthian Casuals with a super boardroom to welcome sponsors/visiting officials and a nice spacious car park providing easy access for all.
I for one will miss the place after a pleasant two years. If only the players hadn’t let the directors down quite so much who knows what might have been?

This is an an interesting reply to being accused of being up the boards arse, no sniff of denial from you Foley? If you come home to find someone in bed with your better half, do you simply say “ah well, he’s under the duvet now, let’s leave him there as I can’t be bothered to have a Mexican stand off?”

Foley, you really need to stop loitering around the board and absorbing their bullshit. You and your mate Acton believe everything they tell you and it’s embarrassing.
Almost as embarrassing as the reply you sent last night, which I get email replies to my post. You then, clearly, wised up and deleted your original reply, which was probably for the best.
This club can run without the current board.
This club can not run without its supporters.
I’d like the board to change because they’re fucking useless and rely on useful idiots like you, Acton and Rosey to believe that they are doing a good job. I’d like to know what part of bottom of the league and 100 goals conceded, players leaving in droves, fans staying away and still no closer to a home ground that you and your fellow idiots think is doing a good job..
