Bugger, I was looking forward to K's playing Thatcham as they are my home team.
Keith.
Why worry, be happy.

Cannot understand why ex Southern league Premier clubs don't get relegated to their own Step, 4 leagues. We have trips to Hampshire but not Sussex which is also strange.

Because there’s only one Southern Premier and one Southern Midlands Premier set of Leagues, each with one feeder league each whereas the Northern Premier and the Isthmian Premier Leagues have three feeder divisions at step 4
Each of the four Step 3 divisions should have two feeder divisions each but they don’t
And the Isthmian league is very protective of its area too
When the fourth division to step 3 was added a few years back then the reforms should have done this. They didn’t
Also as JB adds there’s regional boundaries to ensure all step 3 divisions have equal amount of teams in them otherwise the Isthmian divisions would be very big. So the FA have to accommodate this, especially as a 1/4 of the U.K. population live in the Isthmian area, and this more clubs play in this rough area - ie line from Southampton diagonally upto Norwich. There’s also a big à population concentrated in the old Cotton Belt towns too (up north)

Thanks Mike - that’s a brilliantly clear explanation and I suppose it’s why clubs from Elmbridge ( including Walton and Molesey) can be in the Isthmian League South Central at step 4 but at step 3 have to move to the Southern League

Well, I’d I like to be able to explain it to you but it’s beyond me!
There are boundary lines for the leagues but these boundaries shift each season according to who the teams are.
