Just seen the news that the match day programme will now only be available online:

Here’s today’s:

A shame the physical one can't continue but with print costs as they are a lot of club are coming to the same conclusion. And it does at least mean we can turn it round faster, I only sent Rob that Ramsgate guide at half ten last night when I got bored of the opening ceremony!

A really nice job with it, I particularly enjoyed the feature on the cup tie with Bromley in 1913 and bits like this:

Ironically, the replay kicked off late as Old Kingstonians did not arrive on time. The local paper said: “This time it was the OK’s who caused a late start. This was principally owing to the motor-bus in which the journey was performed finding trouble while mounting a hill near Bromley.
The vehicle became wedged in the mud at the side of the road, and it was not until it disgorged
his human freight - a large one, by the way, that the journey could be resumed. Incidentally, it
may be mentioned that the team and supporters who travelled home by ‘bus had to wait a long
time while the damage done on the hill was being repaired ere the return journey could be
made.”

I think you’re right in saying that a lot of clubs are following this approach and in some way it is sad to see the passing of the printed match a program. On the other hand, it will not be restricted to black-and-white because of cost and could be made available to more people; And so enhance communication. (Along with the supporters club’s newsletter)

This is a positive move. Sad to see the demise of the paper programme (as a teenager I helped sell them for six old pence from the leather bag at). It does help me keep in touch as I don't come to a game very often.

Keith.

Why worry, be happy.
