Poor first half.
Over playing poorly from the back put us
under enormous pressure.
Totally dominant 2nd half.
Thank goodness we have the quality finishing of
Brad Wilson and Eddie Simon.

Only my second game (didn’t make Ascot) and I’m still a bit unsure what to make of everything, if I’m honest.
I’m delighted we are at RPV. They are super hosts and the setup is really fun, with the outside bar and the double terrace in the second half.
K’s also play some nice stuff - when not under any pressure - and some of the goals we’re scoring are enjoyable to be there to witness.
But I have to say, despite all of that, I do remain pretty shocked at the level of football. It feels like when a player does something good, it’s almost inevitable that the next thing they do is going to be bad…just because of the law of averages and the level we are at. So for example one of our wingers traps a through ball brilliantly, and that should be thrilling, but it sort of isn’t exciting becuase you just know he’s going to shank it out for a goal kick. Or a midfielder plays a beautiful through ball that’s a real wow moment, and then the striker lamely chips the ball straight into the keeper’s chest.
It means there’s very little intensity - and intensity is what Kingstonian Football Club is all about. Or at least has been about.
So I dunno. I’m enjoying it for sure, but it’s not k’s as we have grown up to know it.

Not sure I agree with this assessment. The winger you refer to has had decent shots cutting in… yes some have been wide, over or lamely into the hands of the keeper, but that’s the law of averages for trying that. Unfortunately you missed his best game, MOM performance as well. Same with strikers, they’re not going to finish perfectly every time.
How many times in the premier league do you see someone score a great goal then the next shot blaze it over… professional, semi-professional or amateur they’re human and aren’t going to get it perfect every time. Football would be pretty dull if they did.
Some of the defending has been suspect at times, but I don’t think going forward you can point to anything which as a whole indicates the quality of this league being dreadful, without being perfectionist
/unrealistic in what your anticipating; especially after 2 games.

Since moving away from the borough I've taking to watching and helping out at a club a division below Eastbourne, and yes the football is of a lower standard but that's no a shock. But it's more than made up for by the friendship one makes with players, other supporters and officials, which I accept is not exclusive to lower level clubs.
Eastbourne currently have a single point from their four league games so far.

These players won promotion to step three and were competitive at that level so they can’t be that bad surely?

I didn’t say they’re “bad players”. I’ve just never watched matches at this level before and it is taking some getting used to.
You have to remember that the last time we were at this level (and even then, I’d argue it was a higher level due to the league structure then), we had a front three of: Bobby Traynor, Carl Wilson-Dennis and Dean Lodge. So no, these lads aren’t bad players, and they’re clearly a lot better than most of the players we’ve had the last two seasons…but the general level of play is a bit of a new thing if you’re not a hopper who’s watched this stuff before.

All such wonderful players and heroes for the Ks! I still sing the Bobby Traynor song to myself. What a great period of my life that was when I lived in Kingston and we had that team under Dowson! A happy time.

Scott Harris always plays out from the back. Whilst he had terrific success with it one criticism at step three last season was W&H gave too many goals away doing that.

Speaking to some of the players that is how they play.
They have known each other a long time and majority all played together before.
Tbf what I saw the squad looks very good and good experience within the side
They score 2 we score 3 a win is a win

Thought we were weak on the right side defending. Eastbourne played a lot down that side and got two goals through our errors.
