I remember this being the tie I was hoping for the year we drew Fylde!

Are we now officially "enjoying a cup run"?

Maybe not on a run just yet but warming up jogging perhaps.
Signs of olde fans taking notice or even putting in an appearance.Let's hope the jog becomes a run and the good olde days may even appear on the horizon.
Be prepared for what may well be a bigger crowd on Monday then Saturday and impress

The "good olde days" feel a long way away, just at the moment.

We're still homeless, and raiding the deposit account once again this year to make up the revenue shortfall. We were promised that a significant update on our ground situation would be made before this season started - a promise that wasn't kept. A new bloke was introduced to us six months ago as the new saviour, but he soon had a change of heart. Meanwhile, the return of some of the old guard to the club (which would otherwise be most welcome) has brought with it a couple of blokes with very aggressive attitudes.

Yes, for three times 90 minutes this season there's been a good feel about Ks. But let's not lose sight of our priorities.

I would far sooner watch a winning team. The ground situation is obviously complex and frankly may be out of reach. I assume the plan is to bring in a winning team at Raynes Park and build up the fan base with some success on the field. If the gates increase, and we can have a run in a cup, then that cuts the sum needed to make up the figures.

I am doubtful myself whether Ks will ever have their own ground in Kingston. The best bet there is going back to Kingsmeadow but I can’t see Chelsea enabling that.

If that is right then groundsharing at Raynes Park and trying to win games and attract a crowd of say 400 to 500 is a reasonable aspiration.

Is there a conversation to have about when we should cut our losses and do something clever with the money so that it produces our rent for the season without the money in the bank reducing?

you’ve summed up where I am, Rex

it’s fun to score goals but it feels a bit deck chairs on the titanic.

today I re-read the statement on the ground. the statement read that no-one would be told where the new ground is planned to be until the planning application is in. this is the opposite of what needs to be done. we need local people to be onside to build on what will either be green belt, MOL or a conservation area. we need local approval and/or demonstrable benefit to the local community

the existential problem is still there. I find it hard to enthuse the goals, as much as I like seeing my friends and as much as Raynes Park is 100 times better than Mitcham

Somebody said this on Saturday and I said categorically no. Surely you need to win more than one game to be on a "run".
