Daisy Hill FC, Content Creators, and Crowdfunding

Interesting news up in the Northwest Counties League: Social media personality and content creator Aaron Hunt is the new chairman of Daisy Hill FC. Hunt has a large following on YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, and other social channels. Hunt purchased the club after using them in his Football Manager streams on Twitch. Hunt wants to create more content involving the club and has ambitious plans. Such as, getting a new pitch. Through crowd funding, Hunt has already raised over £2000 within a week. I can’t wait to see what the future of Daisy Hill looks like. With more content creators coming into the non-football league world, could this be the new way to create more growth for a club?

I personally like what content creators bring. Harry Hugo has been great for Farnham Town. I’m very jealous of the new opportunities he’s created. Obviously, financial backing is key, but with great storytelling and content, you can create a football brand from nothing. Such as, Hashtag United.

How could Kingstonian’s tell their story and re-build their brand? Also, could crowd-funding be the idea for purchasing property for a ground? Kingstonian’s have that heart-touching story we’ve all heard before from other clubs (Hereford, Macclesfield, Exeter, ect) but has lost the fan base needed to re-build. We need to tell the world our story! I think with a proper crowd-funding campaign we could achieve some goals, which might seem impossible…. Or maybe I’ll just start streaming football manager play throughs with Kingstonian’s and hope I’ll make a lot of money for the club.

If only there was a group of supporters with skills, expertise and contacts in the world of social media / journalism who had been desperately trying to invest in the club.

We have been so well-placed for this type of thing over the last few years. We have a story and a history. We're lower than we should be in the pyramid. We have a catchment area. We have people who could do the storytelling and the social media. But we've completely failed to have any plan whatsoever in terms of marketing or publicity.

I have (some) sympathy for the lack of ground progress as that's very difficult, but the lack of a plan in this respect is 100% negligence.

Excellent post. Lots here to agree with, and you deserve a better response to some of your ideas.

In the meanwhile, just to let you know that tomorrow's game versus Farnham Town, will be live-streamed. I'll add a link to the Match Centre if/ when I find one, but I'm sure you'll be able to find it on their Twitter and YouTube channels.
