What has happened to K's?
Hello all. I have been occasionally on this forum from time to time, over the last 16/17 years or so. Some of you may recall me popping on. Between 1998 and 2001 I lived in New Malden. Being an Albion fan in exile, I searched out the local club, which happened to be the K's at the peak of their history. I saw some great (and not so great) games and went to the two FA Trophy Finals. 10 goals v Sutton Utd in 2000, including that 6-0 Semi Final win. A good time to watch a thriving local club.
I moved back to the Midlands in 2003. I drifted a while, but in 2005, came on the forum and searched what was going on. Obviously this was post Khosla and it was a shock to see how the K's had fallen. Then things picked up with Dowson as manager - he stayed around for a long time. However, the attendances had dropped significantly.
I saw AFC Wimbledon's first game at Kingsmeadow when they were tenants. What happened in 2015 was really sad. Chelsea (spit) have a lot to answer for, How I hate their entitlement. The club in nomadic form has done very well to survive (Wombles money has been crucial I guess) , but how long can it go on? I was shocked to see K's in the same Division as Raynes Park Vale, let alone ground sharing with them. Then I saw average attendances are at 270, which is as they were 10-15 years ago. I suppose that is good considering K's are not quite in the Borough now?
Hopefully this season will end in promotion. Late goal tonight got a point, but they are miles away at the bottom - still a point was saved. Some dodgy home results recently, but still 2nd. A good achievement all said and done.
Last time I signed off, said I wish K's and you all the best, and said I hope you get good owners at last. And the same applies now (I think I last posted in 2016 or 2017). I'll keep watching from afar now. I hope you keep on following them as it is a great club with a good history and decent recent past on the pitch (last 27 years). Can't believe e the time has gone so quickly. Up the K's.

Another misinformation,Chelsea have nothing to do with Ks predicament ,the former KS directors Mark Anderson,Malcolm Winwright ,John Fenwick and Yougos sold out 7 years of KS playing arrangement with AFCW for 150,000 pounds and condemned KS to be nomads.dont blame Chelsea,KS could have stayed for 7 years Chelsea had no say in the matter.

Korky do you know when the date to leave ( not the early exit),was originally agreed?

It was agreed by Mr Khosla and AFCW when he made an unbreakable 21 year playing arrangement with them for KS atK/M.We were 14 years into that when the KS directorship sold out, the only way it could be broken was by the current directorship.Wimbledon offered to see the smooth joining with CFC,but the directors asked for 150,000 pounds and they would remove KS from Kingsmeadow, The aggreement with AFCW was total,KS paid for nothing even on matchdays, but the board realised that the problems of getting the club to break even position was not as easy as they thought, and that Jim Cochrane,Ian Mcdonald and all the volunteers didn't know what they doing , where are they now?

Thanks for those details Korky. I would have thought as tenants of a club whose aim was to leave Kingston the most important thing was to secure a viable permanent ground either out right or ground share. It makes you wonder what went on for the first fourteen years after gaining compensation in regards securing a viable home.
I was told by several of those at Chessington and Hook when they were down in Sussex to play my local team they voted against ground sharing with Ks. as due to the attitude on the Ks side ,it came across as a ' hostile takeover:

Hi Mark,
In answer to your subject line question, our club is run by an egotistical prat, whilst his bunch of yes men (Ben “MatchDodger” Flatt, Bangs, drunken Jim, deluded Newt, Xtra Large Dave, brown-noser-Nick, and Paul “Doesn’t know his arse from his elbow” Foley) all follow him around like yapping chihuahuas, whilst the rest of us continue to support the team and not put up with being mis-treated.
Hope life in the Midlands is treating you well.

Well the chairman blamed toxic fans….
I’ve heard through the grapevine however Foley it was a mixture of broken promises about the ground and training facilities along with constant interference from you know who!

I don't think it was this at all
Reason being if it was all these things and director why would Scott return .
I have heard rumors of something else that happened hence the reason for leaving.

This is entirely untrue and just rumour mongering. Scott told the players the same things as were relayed by Yioryos and Brad Wilson posted to that effect at the time . I also spoke to Scott at some length after the Westfield away game and would place more reliance on what Scott told me himself about his views than on rumours about what other people say someone they know thinks that he definitely said or thinks…..
Actually ,as far as I can tell Scott, his management team and the senior players seem to like Yioryos . For sure, we have not get everything right yet and people are entitled to express concerns and views about the best way forward but please don’t give credence to stuff that is just made up.

Well, chiefly not yet having secured a permanent home yet. Without that one could not claim success. We need to expand commercial sponsorship which is currently very poor. We have maintained some community links through work with charity partners, but far more is needed and can’t happen without our own ground.
We are working on these things but , of course, what matters is delivery rather than good intentions.

Thank you for your candour.
I'd add communications. Your promise to meet the fans every 6-8 weeks has not been kept. And we're totally in the dark about any possible new ground (until it falls through).
I know the Supporters Club is critical of the Board, but we persist in trying to keep some kind of relationship going. However, just this year alone, we have invited you to contribute to the Annual Report. No reply. Or comment on its conclusions once it was published. No reply. We have emailed you about collecting for the Foodbank. No reply. We have emailed you about Football v Homophobia. No reply. We have emailed you about Her Game Too. No reply.
If you feel that your biggest challenge is finding a permanent home (and I would agree with you) then you need a good relationship with the supporters and the wider community to help build a business case and a planning application.

On the issue of the seeking a new ground, requests for confidentiality have come from those we have sought to negotiate with. It should be borne in mind that planning applications are considered on planning grounds and we do have expert advice in relation to this. I would personally very much like to share more details but this is not possible at this juncture.
You are correct in saying that we ignored your “Annual Report” . This was not an exercise that we had agreed to participate in and it did feel to us like a fishing expedition for criticism. I’m afraid we’ll just have to agree to differ on this one.
On a different matter, perhaps off-line you could let me know exactly what you’re hoping to do next with regards to the Foodbank as seems a very positive thing to be supporting.

Nothing you've written here is in itself unreasonable but you have to appreciate that this is the same tune we've heard for the last decade and most people have lost faith.
This could be almost word for word what the board has said about all the previous ideas - basically be patient and trust us - when the last two in particular never had any chance whatsoever. Why is this time going to be different? Do we really have planning expertise if we genuinely thought it was possible to build a ground at the Hawker Centre? Are we really going to be in a position to get the community on side with something like this?
Maybe as a board you're genuinely optimistic about this latest one but I just don't see it happening.

I struggle with this
Any ground development would require overwhelming support of both locals and the Kingstonian fans.
sure there’s some things that need to be confidential but ten years of secrecy and failure on potential sites makes me think it’s pointless, and a cloak to what’s going wrong
I think John is telling what he thinks is the truth, but I think he’s misguided

What you sneeringly describe as a "fishing expedition" was to fulfil our obligation in the Supporters Club's new constitution to be a "critical friend" to the Directors. You may remember that the old Committee was voted out because they had become entirely sycophantic.
The Football Supporters Association, upon reading the Annual Report, was so shocked by the way the Club is being run, that they offered to broker a meeting. Yet again, no reply.
What about the meetings that you promised would happen every 6-8 weeks?

Regarding all the rubbish being spoken, the fact is they can sit there and piss away the ground rent ,if they had to conjure it up by themselves. They would have scuttled away long ago when Anderson Winwright and Fenwick jumped ship.

On the subject of business case/plan I asked the chairman for this a year ago, after some chasing I finally got a few paragraphs about doing more of the same.
The club really is dying!
