Will we make the play-offs?
Okay, so nobody expected us to beat Farnham.
But we're now predicted to finish OUTSIDE the play-off zone.

It's irrelevant what league we play in until we are back in Kingston. Yioryos's travelling freak show is a disgrace. When we're back playing in Kingston and the current owners are gone then I'll care about the playoffs
Remember when you were a kid and you wanted to watch football? And my parents, not unreasonably, weren't happy for me to trek up to Arsenal on my own at 11 years old from New Malden and certainly weren't paying for my ticket. But there was a club within walking distance where you could watch a local team and my Dad would give me money for a ticket and some chips. This isn't some old codger story. It was early 2000s.
If you're a kid in Raynes Park now why would you possibly watch Ks over RPV? If you're a kid in Kingston why would you feel anything for a club that you have to get on a train or bus to go watch.
Yioryos, Bangs and the other criminals haven't just deprived us of a club, they've deprived a generation of kids in Kingston of a local club to start their footballing journey. These people should be pariahs, they have let down a generation of young people in Kingston. Shame on them. It's not hyperbole to say that they are enemies of the people of Kingston.

agree with the substantive point but wouldn’t describe John like that
yes he can be naive and an apologist for some awful decisions but he’s a good man underneath it all I’m quite sure.

I think it would be better to ask why rather than will we
make the play offs?.
I don't think I've ever seen such an abandonment of form
from a Ks side since the late 70's.
For some weeks now it feels like I've been watching a team
that can't wait for the end of the season.
I suppose I can't blame the manager or players when they are
fully aware of how the club is in its present state, but they should be playing for their own pride and good reputations.
Personally, I think the Chairman and the board realise that they cannot sustain the club at level 3 and this has been known to the manager and players for some time. Whats the point?
For what its worth, we will need to win at least two of our remaining 3 fixtures to scrape into the play offs.
Not a chance in this form. We won't make it.

“ I don't think I've ever seen such an abandonment of form”
You forget the 2001 team, adorned with some of the best players to ever play for Ks, go from seconds away from the FA Cup 5th round to being relegated. We dropped like a rock into the deepest ocean.
“ we will need to win at least two of our remaining 3 fixtures to scrape into the play offs.”
We play a team in the relegation zone and a team 3 places above the relegation zone in our next two matches. I have faith for 6 points.

It’s become utterly bizarre how frequently we just fall apart in the second halves of seasons. We’ve had:
16/17 - Tommy Williams’ team were solidly upper midtable with a playoff chance, then went something like 12 without a win and we were nearly relegated
18/19 - already mentioned but Dynan’s team went second over Christmas but we only won one of our last 18 and nearly went down
19/20 - there’s sometimes a bit of a myth that Covid cost Hayden Bird promotion. But after being in contention before Christmas and having that FA Cup run we’d already fallen well away before the season was cancelled.
21/22 - Hayden again. In contention for the playoffs or even the title up to Christmas and gave Aldershot a scare in the Trophy. Then ten without a win after Christmas.
24/25 - now this season. To be honest I’ve only been to one of these six straight losses so hard to comment much but it’s obviously a dreadful run of results.
So five times in eight seasons (ignoring the joke 20/21) we’ve started pretty well but ended up falling away this spectacularly. It’s hard to understand a real reason given it’s happened under four managers in three different grounds. But it’s bizarre and infuriating as a fan.

Hmm
I can see a point somewhere but I think we might hand an escape from relegation to Guernsey which will be interesting as Jersey are meant to br replacing them

Sounds like hindsight or I’m Judy making it up so I wish I’d bookmarked it at the season start
I did think we’d end 6/7th
However I didn’t think we’d accumulate so ment points this season - nor that we’d be second for so long
As for the final table, despite Leatherhead being thumped 10-0 a week and ago back, they’re still in the hunt for the playoffs. I can see us saving Guernsey too by losing to them
We might get a point in the last 3 matches but that’s it

I felt the same as you, Mike. I predicted we'd finish the season in 6th place precisely because I couldn't understand why we'd take voluntary relegation last season and then challenge for promotion straight after.

How's the project going Yiorg and Jim?

Agreed but why, look at Farnham 2nd goal. Freeze for a few seconds in hope of an offside flag & most at each other after the goal. Passing off responsibility to others. So many goals are just simple basic mistakes.
That & looking for the little fouls that aren’t always going to get given. Look at Leatherhead winner, most stopped playing in hopes a foul would be given & it didn’t. Leaving them on the back foot & hoping the screw the chance up.
Play to the effing whistle

Look at the centre backs for RPV's second goal - they just stop.

Are there any credible theories for the performance dip? (apart from the need to dribble out from the back ad nauseam).
Manager has obviously had a more than decent budget.
I appreciate some corners will probably point towards "internal wranglings" between supporters and the board but obviously that has been going on for way longer than just this season - plus any player/coach/manager joining would be aware of the situation.

Seemed to start about the same time as the intel that Scott Harris is off to Leatherhead at the end of the season.

Speaking to a committee man at Leatherhead away they don't want Scott Harris.

Is this intel really that credible? Leatherhead could conceivably finish ahead of K’s in the league so I’m not sure there’s a very strong case to replace Ian Selly with Scott Harris at this time.

I think losing Alex Kelly is the problem BUT it can’t be just be the loss of him. If so then does that mean next season is going to be the same for most of the season. Is there someone who can do his a similar job as him. Doesn’t have to be perfect but at least do an adequate job. It seems no one can do it at the moment.

I think that the lack of budget has cost us. We’ve had a core of 8 or 9 players who have played almost every game plus a few bit-part players for the majority of the season. The players look knackered to be honest. For sure losing Alex was a blow as well as Jacob and poor old Reuben has pretty much been the whole centre midfield since. He has spent so much time trying to break things up that he has been unable to be in position to play some of the incisive passes he was making earlier in the season and is not the type of player to make marauding runs like Kelly. Not getting the ball consistently to Brad and Stan in good areas has meant the service to Eddie has dropped off. Playing out from the back knowing that there will be the odd clanger is fine if you can guarantee the goals up the other end but with little creativity in midfield it has left us in the position we currently are. I still think we are good enough to beat Horndean and Guernsey (and bad enough to lose to them ) so haven’t completely given up hope yet. But f we do make the playoffs then who knows, outsiders have won them before. I certainly don’t think that playing away would be a disaster in the playoffs should we scrape in.

The ongoing existential worry about our future has really distracted from what a pathetic run the team are currently on. Offered absolutely nothing yesterday against a team who were on the beach.
