So, the board think the "test" games this season went well enough to sign up for 3 years?
Allegedly a couple of hundred turned up (hmmmm...) - wonder what a freezing cold Tuesday night in January will bring.
Looking forward to hearing the inside track from the "supporters trust" on this - or has that concept now disappeared as quickly as the idea of getting a ground? 🤔

Likely inflated by season tickets etc. And these were season defining, must win games.
So effectively next season we’re looking at average attendances of around 150 on the weekend and 100 on weekdays I imagine. Would be very surprised any more than that. Wouldn’t be surprised if less.

All the while - right now in fact - there are thousands of people watching live football in Kingston, even though it's live on TV too. Most of them probably oblivious to K's. There was/is an appetite for football in Kingston. We've given up on it and therefore the club itself.

Surely now the death knell for this club.
We simply cannot be playing our home matches for two years at Ashford. I live in pretty much prime Kingstonian location - between Kingston and Surbiton - and Google Maps says it will take 1 hour 30 mins to get to Ashford if I left now. Via three buses. I am, with respect, not going to do that on a regular basis for eighth division football. That is simply not my local football club.
The sad thing is the apparent lack of dissent. A few forum posts here, half-a-dozen social media replies. People have basically given up.
Other local sports clubs and other businesses deserve your time far more than this rabble.

I think there probably is a degree of resignation, yeah, and this wasn't exactly unexpected. Vale said over a year ago that, "Essentially, the Ks supporters are coming to the games in far fewer numbers, and spending less whist at the ground, than we had projected" and that the arrangement had fallen, "Well short of our expectations." Added to the pitch difficulties I think everyone knew this was coming.
It might well be that we had little choice of grounds with other options being unaffordable or flat out unavailable - and despite trying to sound positive about it in the press release, the board must know it's too far and our crowds are going to drop at least to Mitcham levels. So it might not be a bad decision this week but it is a sad culmination of decisions taken over the last 20 years under multiple ownership regimes.
What it really means is that we absolutely have to get the permanent ground sorted this time. To be honest if we had a spade in the ground and were actually going to be in a new ground in 2028 then for two seasons we could share with Berwick Rangers for all I care. But if it doesn't happen, and soon, then it's obvious how much trouble the club is in playing so far from Kingston.

Agreed, the death knell and the inevitable result of a process of managed decline.
The sad thing is the apparent lack of dissent. A few forum posts here, half-a-dozen social media replies. People have basically given up.
I’d suggest there is just simply little to give up on at this point.
It's been nearly a decade since we left Kingston with only a brief return to play in the borough. A club that bear the name and claim the history of Kingstonian but really have nothing to do with the town of Kingston and little appeal for its residents. What really is the entity that is left? The club admit that the distance to Ashford isn't ideal. But that's not the whole issue, it's something more fundamental than that. Is a Kingstonian that exist touring the grounds of South West London and the home counties really that much more desirable at this point, with no end in sight to that nomadic existence than no Kingstonian at all?
Even if we somehow went on a stunning run of form and got promoted to the National League South, and assuming we could find a ground of that standard to play at, what would be the point? Winning the league in Middlesex to me at least would mean very little. It’s just not why I follow this level of football and I’d wager it’s true of many others.
Add into that for some of this period, awful communication/fan engagement from the club, and outright insults from the chairman and his supporters and you're left with a sense that your support is neither desired nor especially required. I would maintain that in a sense Ks gave up on me not the other way round.

managed decline
I think this is overstating it. Managed decline implies malicious intention. This is just pure incompetence and an inability to manage or grow a football club at our (now very low) level. All because of a couple of egos. This has been getting flagged for years, but the apathy generated over time has led us to this meh state where those munching the free biscuits in the boardroom get to kill our club. Unintentionally, just incompetence against the situation we're in.
