A match report intro from nine years ago

Ashford Town (Middlesex) 2-2 Kingstonian

After Kingstonian (Mole Valley) played Lynx FC (Gibraltar) last August, fans would be forgiven if they thought that the most challenging journey of the season had already been negotiated. But the Robert Parker Stadium sits in a curious public transport no-man’s land between Heathrow Terminal 4’s Animal Reception Centre and a vast estate of aviation fuel cylinders (fireworks displays are thus banned in and around the football ground, a prohibition which may or may not have led to unusual caution by the K’s away support).

Remarkable that what was once an away trip notable because the ground was completely inaccessible will be...our home ground next season.

Remember that this is a choice. We could have stayed at RPV - an imperfect solution but not disastrous. Instead we have decided to play at a ground we would once have laughed out of town (if it wasn't so far away from any town anyway).

On the plus side, actually looking like quite a few good away days next season.

Given it’s now a 3 hour round trip for me to a home game, I may as well just do the away games. Most of them won’t involve much more travel anyway.
